New 2017 & 2018 Subaru WRX in Norwalk

The Subaru WRX and WRX STI in Connecticut

The current generation of Subaru WRX sports sedans is so perfect, it's not hard to believe that they didn't need to make major changes to any components or styling.

Still, that doesn't mean that the 2017 Subaru WRX isn't bringing big excitement to Connecticut--and with a great selection of models for sale in new inventory, we've got the perfect sports sedan for you at Garavel Subaru.

For 2017, the WRX and WRX STI will look more or less identical to their 2016 counterparts--as the third year in Subaru's typical five-year product cycle, it's not yet time for any radical upgrades. However, it still comes standard with aggressive grille and hood styling, turbocharged Subaru BOXER engine performance, and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.

Small design changes to the interior give each model in the new Subaru WRX lineup a more premium feel; choose from the base Subaru WRX, WRX Premium, WRX Limited, WRX STI Base, or WRX STI Limited to explore more features, options, and equipment. Browse new models for sale to see specifics.

Features and Options on 2017 WRX and STI models

Since this is only a minor model refresh, the Subaru WRX adds just a few brand-new features--like new tricot headliners across the lineup, auto on/off headlights on base STI models, and advanced safety features on base STI models--but it does carry over a lot of the exciting additions we saw in 2016. Standard features include power windows, cruise control, and automatic climate control, while available features and equipment offer Alcantara/leather seat trim, electroluminescent gauges, and a beautiful power glass moonroof.

For 2017, you'll still enjoy available EyeSight Driver Assist, with Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, and Rear-Cross Traffic Alert. STARLINK multimedia touchscreen infotainment is also standard on all trim levels, with lightning-fast connectivity and streaming services, and a variety of eye-catching exterior performance accents continues to set the WRX and WRX STI apart on the roads.

Performance and Engine Specifications

No changes are seen this year to the legendary powertrain--but hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Drivers in Danbury will still be able to get their hands on the WRX's classic 268-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder BOXER engine, or the 305-horsepower 2.5-liter turbo found in the peppy WRX STI. Transmission also stays the same here: your choice of a six-speed manual transmission or a Sport Lineartronic CVT.

Even with all of that power--and standard AWD--the Subaru WRX still manages a tidy 20 mpg in the city and up to 27 mpg on the highway, making it one of the more fuel-efficient of the high-performance compact cars.

New 2018 Subaru WRX

Updates for a New Model Year: What's Changed in the 2018 Subaru WRX?

After a mild refresh for the 2017 model-year, enthusiasts look forward eagerly to changes and updates for the new 2018 Subaru WRX and WRX STI. We'll break this news early: the 2018 model is not being built on the Global Platform that other similar Subaru body styles now sit on. Subaru will bring in that game-changer later.

What stays the same for the new model-year? The same trims we know and love: 2018 Subaru WRX, WRX Premium, 2018 WRX Limited, and the 2018 WRX STI and 2018 WRX STI Limited--of course. What would this spunky sports sedan be without its tail-fin-wearing hyperactive big brother? Power remains the same, with choice of two BOXER engines. Basic body style stays the same, and (heartbreakingly) the 2018 model will not offer a hatchback option.

We can still hold out hope for a five-door WRX in 2020 when the model gets a full makeover to adopt the new Global Platform.

The easy stuff is out of the way--so what changes? More than you'd think. The front ends of both WRX and WRX STI have been completely revised, for a mischievously contentious, sharp look that better fits the personality and brand of the WRX nameplate. It adds new 19-inch wheels (optional), new Brembo brakes, new Recaro sport power seats (optional), new upgrades to interior materials and reduced cabin noise, new steering-responsive headlights (optional), and a stunning new Performance Package (optional) for the WRX Premium.

It's an exciting time to be a Subaru driver.

All New: The 2018 WRX STi Type RA

Another major update for the 2018 WRX lineup is the addition of the soon-to-come 2018 WRX STi Type RA. The designation stands for "Record Attempt", marks this particular car as a true performance model, and will deliver as much as 310 horsepower. Thanks to engineering advancements like a carbon fiber roof panel and pedestal wing, lighter-weight wheels, and no more spare tire, the weight reduction for this Type RA model boosts acceleration by the 2.5-liter turbocharged BOXER engine.

The sad part: Only 500 units will be produced, and the 2018 WRX STi Type RA will be released in the first quarter of the year. Contact Garavel Subaru to learn more.
